Randhurst Village (intersection of Rand and Elmhurst Roads in Mount Prospect) is bringing together local community groups, stores and restaurants as well as special entertainment and presentations for a day filled with family-friendly fun in a one of a kind outdoor event in its Second Annual Street Fest event Saturday September 9 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Celebrate the Centennial Celebration for Mount Prospect at this free event!
The fest will take place on Randhurst Village Drive beginning at Center Court and ending in front of AMC Randhurst theatres. This section of the Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs to enjoy the live performances.
Come early and stay all day. In honor of the Centennial, the first 500 guests will be treated with free birthday cake. And, every 100 minutes, a $100 gift certificate for a Randhurst Village store or restaurant will be given away.
The fun begins at 11 a.m., when the Daily Herald’s Matt Avery presents cars from the 1920s – taking guests back in time to when Mount Prospect was founded. Matt Avery, who weekly tells the stories of cars and their owners, will interview owners and showcase their vehicles.
Get ready to rock out with this year’s Street Fest headliner and area favorite 7th Heaven. The beloved band has charted #1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts three times in the past three years. 7th Heaven’s songs have been heard on over 7 radio stations in Chicagoland with their hits “Time of Our Lives”, “Stoplight”, “Better This Way” and “Sing”. Boys & Girls Club of Lake County (BGCLC) hosted their 15th Annual Golf Outing on Monday, July 31 at the Royal Melbourne Country Club in Long Grove (4700 Royal Melbourne Drive). The Golf Outing welcomed 150 guests and raised more than $200,000 benefitting after-school and summer programs serving more than 1,000 at-risk youth; with generous support from Title Sponsors Garrett Popcorn Shops, Frango, IDEX Corporation, and The Omtvedt Family Foundation.
“The Boys & Girls Club of Lake County Golf Outing is one of our most significant fundraisers,” says Donna Funk, Resource Development Director for the organization. “Funds raised at this event help provide the resources necessary to serve the youth in our community who need it most through positive and productive after-school and summer programs which help provide them with a path for a great future.”

Culinary Fight Club will take place on June 19 and feature a showdown between four local chefs with proceeds benefiting local non-profit, Fight2Feed. Yappy Hour Tuesdays will kick off on June 20 and take place on the dog-friendly outside patio.
Culinary Fight Club Pitmaster Throw down Challenge – Monday, June 19
On Monday, June 19, Hard Rock Cafe will host a Culinary Fight Club Pitmaster Throw down Challenge from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., where four local Chicago chefs will battle it out in a seriously tasty cook-off. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit Fight2Feed, a non-profit with a mission end hunger in Chicago by partnering with local restaurants to reduce food waste and share food with people in need.
Participating chefs will have two hours to create their best dish that combines the art of BBQ, grilling and open fire cooking. Industry experts will judge contestants based on presentation and how well the chefs have mastered the pit by cooking up the perfect protein and two sides.
Competing chefs include: Dylan Lipe, The Budlong Hot Chicken; Hipolito Sanchez, Slow Motion For Meat; Kristina Gaardbo, Chicago Culinary Kitchen and Rockin Rodizio; and Corey Rice, a Chicago home cook.
Yappy Hour on the Patio – Tuesdays

June Mixology Academy with Bulleit Bourbon – Saturday, June 17 at 3 p.m.
Just in time for summer, La Mez Agave Lounge, located downstairs at Mercadito, hosts its monthly Mixology Academy course, led by Beverage Director Paul Tanguay. The course will feature cocktails crafted with Bulleit Bourbon.
Guests are invited to learn insider tips and techniques to craft perfectly balanced cocktails at home, all while absorbing a bit of useful alcohol history about Bulleit Bourbon and getting saucy with friends and classmates. Appetizers will be provided, courtesy of Mercadito Chicago’s Executive Chef Patricio Sandoval. Guests are also welcome to purchase items off of the regular menu.
Mercadito’s Mixology Academy course costs $45 per guest, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required.
Dame Calor Experiential Dinner – Monday, June 19 from 6-9 p.m.
Celebrate warmer weather with a special Dame Calor Experiential Dinner. Hosted by Mercadito’s Executive Chef Patricio Sandoval and special guest Paul Sauter of Diageo, guests are invited to enjoy four courses expertly paired
with Don Julio Tequila pours.
Guests will begin the night with a Guacamole Trio that includes Sandia, Durazno and Pepino. Guests will then indulge in a Ceviche Trio that includes Camaron, Dorado and Mixto and delight in a selection of tacos, including Carne, Pollo, Langosta and Pescado. The night ends on a sweet note with Tres Leches.
The Dame Calor Experiential Dinner costs $75 per guest, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required.
