Sip, Sip, Olé!  Celebrate National Tequila Day at Mercadito Chicago  

Enjoy a special prix fixe menu including your choice of specialty tequila cocktail

Salud! Mercadito Chicago, Molise PR client, is raising a glass to National Tequila Day with a special prix fixe menu including a specialty Mercadito tequila cocktail of your choice, available on Monday, July 24 from 3 p.m. to Midnight.

The National Tequila Day prix fixe menu costs $35 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and includes a trio of guacamole, two dishes of ceviches or botanas, four tacos, one side dish, a dessert of your choice and specialty tequila cocktail.

First, pick your beverage of choice from Mercadito’s offering of specialty tequila cocktails including: Margarita Tradicional, Gato Amargo, La Vida Rosa, Pepino el Pyu, Hibis-Calyptus, Casagria, V-9, Little Market, Paloma Diabla, Misty’s Sleeve, One-Thumbed Mayan, Smokey Pablo, Big Nose Goes to Mexico and Tres Viejos.

Begin your meal with a trio of guacamole including Tradicional, Mango, and Toreado. Next, choose two from the following: Ceviches include Camarón, Mixto, and Dorado; and Botanas including Flautas, Queso Fundido, and Corn Masa Quesadillas.

Taco options include (must be four of the same): Espada, blackened swordfish, chile de árbol aioli, cabbage-jalapeño slaw; Estilo Baja, beer-battered mahi-mahi, chipotle aioli, Mexican coleslaw; Camarón, shrimp, roasted garlic, avocado, chipotle mojo; Carne, ancho-marinated skirt steak, onion, cilantro, asparagus, leek-poblano salsa, crispy shallots; Pollo, thyme–marinated chicken, corn, scallions, garlic mojo, crispy red onions; Carnitas de Puerco, braised pork, cabbage, onions, cilantro, peanut salsa, chicharrón; and Hongos, wild mushrooms, onion, cilantro, salsa verde, queso fresco, radish, crema fresca.

Featured side selections include: Brussels Sprouts, Mac & Cheese, Elote Mexicano, Green Rice Casserole, Plátanos Machos and Arroz y Frijoles.

Finish on a sweet note with dessert options including: Torrejas de Bolillo, Pastel de Chocolate, Tres Leches, and Flan de Cajeta.

Make Cinco de Mayo a weeklong celebration at Mercadito Chicago, a Chicago PR agency client, with a Cinco de Mayo Experiential Dinner on Monday, May 1 and a special five-course prix fixe menu available Friday, May 5. Plus, guests are invited to attempt Mercadito’s Vato Loco cocktail, known as the “Hottest Drink on Earth.”

Cinco de Mayo Experiential Dinner, May 1 from 6-9 p.m.

Start the festivities early with a special Cinco de Mayo Experiential Dinner. Guests are invited to enjoy five courses, each expertly paired with Mezcales de Leyenda pours.

Begin the celebration with a selection of Botanas Mexicanas that includes Tostaditas de Tinga de Res, Guacamole con Chicharron, Tacos Dorados, Sopes de Chorizo and Tacos de Chicharron en Salsa.

Guests will then enjoy Tamales de Mole Poblano, revel in Chile Relleno de Quesillo and indulge in Pozole Rojo. For dessert, guests will be treated to Flan Napolitano. 

The Cinco de Mayo Experiential Dinner costs $85 per guest, plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are required.

Cinco de Mayo Five-Course Prix Fixe Menu, May 5 from 4 pm – Close

43d65fd441f4298e4974ccd7_372x560On Cinco de Mayo, guests can enjoy a special five-course prix fixe menu, $45 plus tax and gratuity. The five-course menu includes a choice of two guacamoles, two botanas or ceviches, four tacos including Chicken Mole, two side dishes and one dessert.

Plus, guests are invited with caution to try the Vato Loco cocktail, known as “The Hottest Drink on Earth” at Mercadito. The Vato Loco is perfectly mixed with ancho- infused blanco tequila, arbol chile syrup, pineapple-habanero puree, whole milk, fresh lime juice, a flaming jalapeno with over-proofed rum and four dashes of Tabasco, $15. Guests are required to sign a waiver form before attempting the Vato Loco cocktail.

Mercadito Chicago Hosts Comida, Cocktails & Copitas Experiential Dinner, January 23

An exclusive five-course menu expertly paired with Del Maguey pours

Mercadito Chicago, River North’s upscale, authentic Mexican restaurant and Molise PR client is cranking up the heat this winter with a special Comida, Cocktails & Copitas Experiential Dinner on Monday, January 23 from 6-9 p.m.

Guests are invited to enjoy five courses accompanied by five Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal pours. The evening is hosted by Éva Pelczer of Del Maguey’s East Coast Juez and Mercadito’s Corporate Chef Aldo Ayala.

7e04393c3adbae6e660136f6_560x384To begin, guests will enjoy a Trio de Antojitos that includes Garnachas, braised ground beef, cabbage and salsa; a Tostada, avocado, spiced crickets, salsa morita and cilantro; and a Barbacoa Taco, goat barbocoa, onion and consomé.

Next, guests will delight in Chile Pasilla Oaxaqueño, piloncillo marinated pasilla chile, sautéed shrimp, braised onions, herbs, jalapeño-tomato broth and micro-cilantro.

The third course includes Tlayudas, grilled crispy corn tortilla, black beans, artisanal quesillo, chorizo, avocado, tomato and salsa.

Guests will then indulge in a Trio de Mole that includes Mole Negro, chicken breast, cilantro, rice and plantains; Mole Coloradito, smoked pork belly and sweet potato; and Mole Verde, braised marlin and corn.

For dessert, guests will be treated to Hot Chocolate y Churro, complete with Mexican chocolate, churros and goat’s milk caramel.

Join La Mez Agave Lounge, River North’s new mezcal lounge and Chicago PR client located downstairs at Mercadito Chicago (108 W. Kinzie St.), for their upcoming Mixology Academy courses taught by head mixologist Dylan Stewart. Upcoming classes will be held at 3 p.m. on select Saturdays through the end of the year, and cost $45 per guest.

At La Mez Agave Lounge’s Mixology Academy guests will learn tips and techniques to craft perfectly balanced cocktails at home, all while absorbing a bit of useful alcohol history and getting a little saucy with friends and classmates. In additional to the libations, appetizers from Mercadito Chicago’s Executive Chef Patricio Sandoval will be provided.

G&T’s From A to Z, October 22: This is not your Mom’s G&T. Mix up some funky, seasonal variations on the classic cocktail using fresh fruits, spices and craft tonics.

Old Fashiones vs. New Fashioned, December 17: From the 1980’s until today, the Old Fashioned has risen and fallen and risen again to become one of the most popular classic cocktails. Learn how to stir up ‘the original’ and get funky with a handful of popular, unique variations.
