Skokie is getting smokyReal Urban Barbecue, with locations in Downtown Highland Park, Vernon Hills, and Oak Brook, is proud to announce the grand opening of their fourth location in Skokie on Friday, June 23 at 10 a.m.

Located at 5238 W. Touhy Avenue just west of I-94, the restaurant will open for lunch, dinner, and weekend breakfast; as well as offer carryout, delivery, and corporate and private catering.

Lunch Prix-Fixe Menu – $22 – $28 with Beverage*

Mercadito’s lunch prix-fixe menu includes a choice of two types of guacamoles, two types of ceviches, three tacos and one dessert.

For the first course, guests will choose two guacamoles. Choices include:

  • Tradicional, tomatillo pico de gallo, jalapeño, garlic, key-lime and cilantro;

Andy Hendrickson, September 15-17: Not only has Andy Hendrickson made TV appearances on David Letterman, The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Gotham Comedy Live and NBC’s Last Comic Standing, but he was also one of the stars of the recently released movie The Clean Guys of Comedy. It broadcast live via satellite in over 600 theaters nationwide. His stand-up style is one of the hardest to deliver: dry, clever, and clean. A true comedy veteran with over seventeen years of experience, Andy can adapt his routine to any corporate or professional audience.

Andy has a conversational delivery that draws on real life experiences based on family, work and relationships. A gifted storyteller, he shares hilarious anecdotes about life growing up as the one black sheep in a family, with two Navy Seals and three Ivy League graduates. Chicago Celebrities celebrate the glamour of Vegas with an ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ themed gala to raise money benefiting the fight against breast cancer in Chicago.  

Arthur Murray’s annual Dancing With Chicago Celebrities, Chicago PR Firm client, is back again and promises to be the biggest and best year yet. The gala celebrates its 11th year with an ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ themed evening on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago (151 E. Wacker Drive). The cocktail reception begins at 5:30 p.m, doors to the ballroom open at 6:45 p.m. and the competition and show begin at 7 p.m.  This event has raised more than $1.6 million over the years, and will once again benefit Chicago organizations that provide preventative research and access to care in the fight against breast cancer.

“For over a decade now, Dancing with Chicago Celebrities has been a night for Chicagoland media stars, athletes, entertainers, chefs and members of the community to break out their dancing shoes and come together to raise money for the fight against breast cancer,” says Dancing with Chicago Celebrities Founder and Arthur Murray Chicago franchisee, Jill DeMarlo. “We are so grateful to the over 60 celebrities who have danced for us to help create “the most fun charity event in Chicago.”

Local celebrities and corporate superstars have been rigorously preparing their dance routines for this year’s competition. Each celebrity will be paired with one of Arthur Murray’s own professional dancers. This year’s celebrities include: Christian Farr, NBC 5 TV; Audrina Bigos, CBS 2 Chicago; Paul Lisnek, WGN TV; Crystal Davis, Miss Illinois; Jarrett Payton, CLTV and Former NFL Player; Cheryl Scott, ABC 7 TV; Ericka Pino, UNIVISION Chicago.

2016’s Corporate Challenge will be a dance off between Dr. Claudia Tellez, Northwestern Memorial; Barb Schenberg, Cushman & Wakefield; Nick LaCalamita, Watson Smith Carpet & Rugs; Dr. Lawrence Iteld, Lawrence Plastic Surgery; Dennis Drescher, UBS; Kathy Gramling, Ernst & Young; Phil Bierman, Deloitte; and Scott Himmel, architect and founder of Truex Furniture. 

Jane Melvin, Dancing with Chicago Celebrities Founding Board Member and Co-Chair says, “We are incredibly grateful to the talented dancers and staff at Arthur Murray Dance Centers who have donated more hours than we can count to train our celebrity and corporate dancers and to all the people who support us year after year.  We are particularly delighted to announce that this year, Cushman & Wakefield has signed on as a major sponsor. Judging this year’s glamorous competition are champion ballroom dancers Snow Urbin, finalist on FOX’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and Nick Kosovich, ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” alum, US and Arthur Murray champion. 

Also scheduled to appear at the event will be some of Dancing With Chicago Celebrities’ alumni including; last year’s celebrity champion, WGN’s Sarah Jindra  Val Warner, Windy City Live’s 2010 Champion; Cortney Hall, WGN’s 2014 Celebrity Champion; Kath Carter, 2012 Corporate Superstar MVP from Ernst & Young; Jim Logothetis, 2013 Corporate Superstar from Ernst & Young; Rick Bayless, Top Chef Master and 2006 Champion and Dina Bair, WGN Mid-day Anchor and 2008 Champion.

Guests of the 2016 Dancing with Chicago Celebrities will enjoy swanky food and drinks, a silent auction and a unique live auction. Guests will also revel in a professional Vegas-inspired “Ocean’s Eleven’ show from the professional staff at Arthur Murray.

1-on-1 Cancer Support Community Celebrates Tenth Anniversary in 2016

 Imerman Angels, a Chicago PR Agency’s client, is pleased to announce that Erin Leyden has been appointed Chief Operating Officer of the non-profit, one-on-one cancer support community.

2Leyden will continue to serve as Director of Development at Imerman Angels, in which capacity she is responsible for fundraising, marketing, corporate partnerships and event planning efforts.  Since joining Imerman Angels in 2013, revenue nearly doubled and she continues to create and manage major annual fundraising events such as the Wings of Hope Gala, which has honored influencers in the cancer community including 1871 CEO Howard Tullman, Walgreens, and Fleet Feet CEO Dave Zimmer.  Leyden has also played a large part in the development and success of Team Imerman Angels (running program).

“Erin Leyden has played a critical role in the development of Imerman Angels during the past three years,” says Imerman Angels Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director, Ben Bornstein. “I am excited to work alongside her in this expanded role as we celebrate our ten-year anniversary and continue to grow our cancer community and network of survivors and fighters to ensure that no one faces cancer alone.”

Prior to serving as Director of Development for Imerman Angels, Leyden served as Vice President of Development, Marketing and Communications at the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago.

A Chicago native, with a Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Leyden first entered the non-profit world through the founding of her own organization in 2006 after her young son started having seizures.  Leyden and her family soon started the American Epilepsy Outreach Foundation, a national organization created to raise epilepsy awareness and provide support to those affected by epilepsy and their families. In 2009 Leyden was recognized by People Magazine and Major League Baseball as an All Star Among Us for her work in her community.

In 2010, Leyden merged the organization with the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago to better serve the 130,000 individuals living with epilepsy throughout Illinois.  As the Vice President of Development, Marketing and Communications she oversaw all of development including events, volunteers, outreach, and all aspects of marketing and communications.

Erin Leyden lives in Norwood Park with her three children and her husband, Patrick who is an instructor and team leader for the Chicago SWAT team.
