Imerman Angels Presents the Fourth Annual Wings of Hope Gala

Chicago PR firm client Imerman Angels presents the fourth annual Wings of Hope Gala on Saturday, September 9 from 6 – 11 p.m. at a new location, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago (120 East Delaware Place). The evening will raise funds for the world’s largest one-on-one cancer support community and advance Imerman Angels’ mission to provide free personalized connections that enable one-on-one support among cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.

The Wings of Hope Gala is a black tie optional event that celebrates life and hope. The evening begins with a welcome reception including cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity for guests to bid on impressive auction items. At 7 p.m., guests will enjoy a special program hosted by Ryan Chiaverini, co-host of ABC 7’s Windy City LIVE, including a plated dinner, remarks from Imerman Angels co-founders Jonny Imerman and John May, and Chief Executive Officer Ben Bornstein, plus live and silent auctions followed by music and dancing to conclude the night.

The Wings of Hope Gala will honor Outcome Health with the 2017 Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service within the cancer community and for their ongoing support and dedication in advancing Imerman Angels’ mission. The Angel Award recognizes healthcare companies that demonstrate exceptional medical service and care for patients and their families. Past recipients of the Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service include the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and City of Hope.

Receiving the 2017 Wings of Hope Award for Community Outreach is @properties, a community partner who recently selected Imerman Angels as the recipient of their 2017 “@gives back” program, a Community Fund that provides an outlet for agents, employees and colleagues to make a positive impact on dozens of communities and thousands of lives throughout Chicagoland.

Imerman Angels presents the third annual Wings of Hope Gala on Saturday, September 17 from 6 p.m. to Midnight at the Ritz-Carlton, Chicago (160 E. Pearson St.). The evening will continue the organization’s 10-year anniversary celebration and advance its mission to provide connections that enable one-on-one support for cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.

The Wings of Hope Gala is a black tie optional event that celebrates life and compassion. The evening begins with a welcome reception including cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres and the opportunity for guests to bid on impressive silent auction items. At 7 p.m. guests will be escorted to their tables where they will enjoy a special ceremony honoring Dr. Steven T. Rosen and City of Hope. Actress and Chicago native Bonnie Hunt, who first pursued her acting career at the renowned Second City Theater while working as an oncology nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, will emcee the evening’s program.

Imerman Angels, a Chicago Public Relations client, has selected City of Hope as the recipient of the 2016 Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service in the Cancer Community, an award that recognizes healthcare providers who demonstrate exceptional medical service and care for their patients and their families. Accepting the award will be Dr. Steven T. Rosen, the Provost, Chief Scientific Officer and Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Beckman Research Institute for the City of Hope. Past recipients of the Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service include the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University and the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

The program includes a seated dinner, remarks from Imerman Angels co-founder Jonny Imerman, co-founder John May, and Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director Ben Bornstein, a live auction featuring extraordinary items, and live music/dancing courtesy of Dr. Bombay.

Imerman Angels presented the second annual Wings of Hope Gala on Saturday, September 12 at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago. The affair welcomed 320 guests and raised $301,000 benefitting Imerman Angels’ mission to enable connections that provide 1-on-1 cancer support among cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.

The formal event began with a welcome reception including cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Ritz-Carlton Chicago with entertainment provided by pianist Dave Hedlund. Guests were then escorted to their tables where they enjoyed an impressive three-course dinner, a riveting live auction hosted by professional auctioneer David Goodman, and a special ceremony celebrating the evening’s award recipients led by the evening’s emcee, cancer survivor and NBC 5 Morning News Co-Anchor Zoraida Sambolin.

The honorees of the Wings of Hope Gala included Walgreen Co., who received the Wings of Hope Award, which recognizes the outstanding efforts of a group or individual who has contributed greatly to the growth and strength of the Imerman Angels mission. Walgreens was recognized for their support and commitment to providing hope, strength and inspiration to their cancer patient and caregiver consumers including putting Imerman Angels brochures in the pharmacy section of select stores around Chicagoland. The Wings of Hope Award was accepted by Richard Ashworth, PharmD, President, Pharmacy and Retail Operations and Nimesh Jhaveri, RPh, Divisional Vice President.

Fleet Feet Sports Chicago was awarded the Angel Award for Community Outreach, accepted by Dave Zimmer, CEO and Owner Fleet Feet Sports Chicago, Co-Owner of Chicago Endurance Sports. The Angel Award is given to a group or individual that has continually exemplified their commitment to spreading awareness of the Imerman Angels mission. Dave Zimmer and Fleet Feet Sports Chicago was recognized for their constant support of and instrumental role played in the promotion of Imerman Angels’ second leading fundraising initiative, Team Imerman Angels, including apparel, training and overall awareness.

The Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service was awarded to the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University. This award recognizes healthcare providers who demonstrate exceptional medical service and care for cancer patients and their families. In addition to the expertise and emotional support they provide to their patients from diagnosis and treatment through survivorship, the partnership the Lurie Cancer Center has with Imerman Angels allows them to help more people touched by cancer. The award was accepted by Leonidas C. Platanias, MD, PhD, Director of the Lurie Cancer Center.

The live auction items for the evening were an impressive collection of lifetime experiences, and were a major centerpiece for fundraising for the evening. Packages included: a NASA Space Center Experience; a two-night trip to London and Manchester United Football Club experience; Lights, Action, Camera!, a two-night trip to Los Angeles with a walk-on role on one of ABC’s top television hits; a Blackhawks Personal Experience with Stan Bowman; a Private Home Dinner Party with “Top Chef” Carlos Gaytan; and a Tuscany, Italian Home for 10 with a Private Chef.

The program included a very special moment where all Imerman Angels Mentor Angels in attendance were asked to stand and were recognized by all for their undying dedication to providing invaluable 1-on-1 support to their mentees battling cancer. The evening commenced with dancing to live music courtesy of Dr. Bombay.

Molise PR client Imerman Angels welcomed 333 guests (a sold-out soiree) at the first annual Wings of Hope Gala on Saturday, September 20 at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago. The event raised $325,123 benefiting Imerman Angel’s mission to enable connections that provide 1-on-1 cancer support among cancer fighters, survivors, and caregivers.

The formal affair began with a Wings of Hope welcome reception including cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres courtesy of Ritz-Carlton Chicago. Guests were then escorted to their tables where they enjoyed a special ceremony led by WGN TV’s Dina Bair as the Master of Ceremonies, a three-course seated dinner, dancing to live music from Dr. Bombay and a special visit from Chicago Bears player David Bass. A riveting live auction saw the highest bid of the evening go for a party for 25 guests at Howard Tullman’s private collection of contemporary art.

The Wings of Hope Gala honored the Cancer Treatment Centers of America who received the Angel Award for Outstanding Medical Service- an inaugural award that recognizes healthcare providers who demonstrate exceptional medical service and care for their patients and their families.

Other honorees of the Wings of Hope Gala included:

1871 CEO Howard Tullman, a member of Imerman Angel’s board of directors, who was presented with The Wings of Hope Award by Attorney General Lisa Madigan for his continued excellence in inspiring others, contributing to the cancer community and for going above and beyond to help those in need of cancer support.

Hegele Logistic, LLC, receiving The Angel Award for Community Outreach for supporting the promotion of Imerman Angels by equipping their fleet of trucks with the Imerman Angels logo and enlisting the help of all of their employees to continually spread the word about Imerman Angels in the hospitals and care facilities they visit on a daily basis.

Harvey Weaver, who received The Angel Award for Personal Achievement for exceeding leadership expectations, supporting Imerman Angels’ mission and for personally mentoring over 40 Lung Cancer fighters.
